Marta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy hoses, wood, cement, zinc, stones, sand, etc. to complete her irrigation system.

Marta's story

Marta is 43 years old. She is a married mother of six children, one of whom is still dependent on her and her husband. Marta is a merchant and agricultural worker, involved in a number of business, namely, selling cosmetic products & clothes, bread-making and working as a seamstress. She also has her own plot of land where she grows bananas. She is supported by her husband and children, as well as the financing she has received in order to invest in her businesses and plantain orchard.

With her previous credit from Kiva, Marta was able to build a well and install an electric pump, for personal use and to establish an irrigation system for her plantain orchard. Previously, she had to travel to the river for water. Now, she enjoys water in her own home, as well as in a neighboring home where one of her children lives.

Marta is deeply thankful for all she has been able to accomplish thanks to the Kiva credit provided by FUNDENUSE (a Kiva field partner). She has improved her quality of life, and that of her family.

Marta is now requesting a second loan from FUNDENUSE to invest in the construction of a shed for her well, as well as to complete the installation of her irrigation system. Her goal now is to finish all the improvements to her well and her home. In the future, she plans to properly increase her crop output, using proper techniques, to obtain a better production.
