Tarrales Group's story

The three members of the Tarrales group live in Chocolá, San Pablo Jocopilas, Suchitepéquez, Guatemala. They range in age from 21 to 44. One is married and two are single mothers. Their education level ranges from first to fourth grade. One sells jewelry and perfume and two make and sell food. They are starting their first cycle with the Namaste Creating Prosperity Program, and look forward to learning how to manage their businesses and make more money. The program was recommended to them by friends who are already in the program.

Felipa Floridalma is 44, married, and has no children. She had only one year of school and has had, for several years, a business selling silver jewelry door to door in her community. She buys the jewelry at sales or from catalogs and has recently added perfume. She is looking forward to the financial literacy classes Namaste provides and also to having a personal advisor who will give her advice on how to grow her business. She wants to learn about management and how to increase her profit. She will use her loan to buy jewelry and perfume. Her business goal is to add a greater variety of perfumes. Her long term dream is to have a stall in the market from which she can sell larger quantities of jewelry and perfume.

Her current net profit is 1,868 Guatemalan Quetzales ($243). By the end of this cycle she hopes to increase that to Q 2,538 ($330).
