Muj Luchadoras San Bartolo Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy tables and chairs made of wood and plastic.

Muj Luchadoras San Bartolo Group's story

Enthusiasm and effort are characteristics that are observed in the 7 women of the Community Bank of Friendship Bridge “Muj luchadores San Bartolo.” The small businesses they have are an opportunity to generate income and get ahead with their families. They operate small stores for daily consumption, sell prepared food, and sell personal products by catalog in the Department / State of Totonicapán.

Particularly for 40-year-old Prisila, a member of the communal bank, the street food business and her small restaurant are very profitable. She wants to improve the furniture in her small restaurant to provide better customer service. Prisila is sure that with this first Kiva loan, she will succeed. The capital will be used to buy tables and chairs made of wood and plastic. Part of the profits from Prisila's business will be used to help her husband educate his six children over 8 years. (The child that appears in the photograph is from one of the ladies of the communal bank.)

For Priscila and her companions, the training they receive monthly is very important. They meet monthly to participate in educational training, part of the "Microcredit Plus" loan, education and health services program. Women learn about business, healthy habits, self-esteem and empowerment. Every two months, a visiting nurse offers free basic exams such as blood pressure tests and Pap tests.

Thank you, Kiva lenders!
