Bastith is 40 years old and has 4 children. For over 20 years, she has made a living selling palm, cacao, chickens, guinea pigs, and as a mobile sweet vendor.

She will invest her loan in buying fertilizer. She needs it for her palm crop, for a better product.

With her extra earnings, she wants to improve her home for her own comfort and that of her family. She and her husband work growing and selling crops. They support one another to improve their finances.

All members of La Fortaleza communal bank appear in the photo except Segundo, because of a health issue; he had a fever and left before the photo was taken. Jovita is a saver and she also belonged to the communal bank, and she is the woman who is seated first on the left.

She describes herself as an entrepreneurial, determined woman who is very motivated to succeed and thus improve her standard of living.
