06_Diamagueune Louga Sargal Sa Jeker Group's story

This group is made up of 20 women who share strong links of solidarity and mutual help. They live in the same neighbourhood and have seized the opportunity to join the "banc villageois" when it was established in the area in May 2010. Their main activity is small business.
Fatou, (standing on the far right of the photo with her hand raised), is the representative of the group. She is 54 years old. She is married and mother to eight children, of which three are boys. She runs a small business selling vegetables and fresh fish. She benefits from experience in this activity having been involved for several years.
With this loan she plans to buy some bags of cabbage, carrots, aubergines, cassava and fresh fish from the central market to resell individually in the neighbourhood.
The profits will enable her to boost her savings and support her husband in the management of feeding the family.
