El Roble Group's story
Fidelia is part of the Community Bank of Friendship Bridge “El Roble”, located in the Department / State of Quetzaltenango. She is empowering herself, as well as several of her children thanks to the clothing business she started 6 years ago. She uses her sewing machine to produce a variety of garments such as blouses, gabachas and aprons. Thanks to the income she obtains from the business, Fidelia supports her husband to cover the expenses of her 6 children. All of his children attended high school and college. Although she only attended school for 6 years, her vision has been to see her children as professionals. Fidelia has several orders and to satisfy the clientele it needs capital. She is requesting the 3rd Kiva loan to invest in the purchase of raw materials as a variety of fabrics to continue making the garments. In the monthly meetings of the communal bank, Fidelia learns to avoid over-indebtedness and vary the product in its business. There are 7 other women in the group who sew clothes, sell personal products by catalog, clothes and jewelry. They look forward to monthly meetings when they meet to support each other, make loan payments and participate in training on business, health, family and women. Every two months, women have access to basic health services. The effective combination of credit support, educational training and health care services is called "Microcredit Plus". Thank you, Kiva lenders, for the vital role you play in the lives of these women!
