Las Victoriosas Group's story
Melisa, the President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Victoriosas” shares with KIVA investors, “I have promised my customers to offer them the best second hand clothing with good customer service.” This savvy business woman is a 25 year old married mother of 2 children (1,4). Her goals are to not only develop herself but also to raise the standard of living for her family. Increasing business is a top priority. Melisa is requesting her 3rd KIVA loan to buy used clothing for men, women and children in specific sizes. She also wants to begin to sell new clothing to offer her customers more choices. The 8 ladies in the Trust Bank have animal husbandry (poultry, pigs), sell new and used clothing, personal care products, shoes and regional dishes. They are neighbors and live in the department/state of Chimaltenango. They look forward to their monthly meetings when loan payments are made, and the women participate in educational trainings that cover an aspect of 4 topics: business, health, family, women. Every other month, they have access to basic health care services. This effective combination of loans, education and health care services is called “Microcredit Plus”. Melisa and her friends send their gratitude to KIVA investors from all parts of the world for funding their much needed loans. They are poised to step into a brighter future, benefitting themselves, their families and their community in Chimaltenango!
