Irene's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped A single mom to purchase a high-yield dairy cow and milk cans to expand her milk-vending business.

Irene's story

Meet Irene, a 35-year-old farmer and mother of 2 children pictured in her simple house. Irene is a hard-working, small-scale farmer who is not daunted by the difficult situations she has had to face in her lifetime. She lives in Thika, Kenya, home to the Chania Falls, Fourteen Falls and many attractive places visited by tourists. This area has good rainfall patterns and this favours farmers like her. Most people who live in this area are smallholder farmers. Irene has been farming on a small, inherited piece of land for many years. She practices mixed farming and sells milk and maize as her sources of income. She loves dairy farming the most, and her greatest challenge is the lack of sufficient feed for her livestock. Irene chose Juhudi Kilimo after realizing that they finance farmers to help them obtain important assets for their farms. She is borrowing funds to purchase a high-yield dairy cow and milk cans to expand her milk-vending business and generate more income to sustain her family. Through Juhudi Kilimo, Irene has learned how to develop a savings culture. This loan will be of benefit to her family; they will have more milk to consume and sell, and their living standard will improve. Be inspired and lend to this zealous woman!
