Total loan: $1,500

Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, Kenya / Agriculture

Ekila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Ekila's story

When small-holder women farmers are given access to funds, they are very hardworking on their farms and Ekila (42 years’ mom of 2 pictured in her simple house) knows this. She is a smallholder woman farmer who has lovely children and lives in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. For the past few years, Ekila has been actively involved in mixed farming. Kerugoya is one of the places with conditions that favor crop farming as it has a good climate, soil, transport system, and market. She is therefore requesting a loan to buy seed and improve her crop farming. Through Juhudi Kilimo, a micro-finance organization that supports young and enterprising farmers she has received training on crop farming. This loan will improve Ekila’s living conditions and secure the future of her children.
