Liderezas Group's story
Small shops for daily consumption and bakeries are found everywhere in the western highlands of Guatemala. Clara, a member of the Community Bridge of Friendship Bridge "Liderezas", is 34 years old and studied 6 years in elementary school. She lives with her husband and is the mother of 1 child (11 years old) who studies 4th grade. Thanks to the popularity of the two convenience store and bakery businesses, Clara believes it is necessary to increase the business inventory. Clara is requesting the 2nd loan from KIVA to buy wholesale products such as sugar, flour, for the bakery and pasta, beans, rice and eggs for the store. There are 6 other women in the communal bank that is located in a rural area in the department / state of Quiché. They have businesses where they sell food, they have bakeries and shops for daily consumption. They expect their monthly meetings when they make loan payments and participate in educational training, part of the "Microcredit Plus" microcredit program for loans, education and health care services. The issues are relevant to their lives and women learn about healthy habits, good nutrition and hygiene, get effective business management tools. They also learn to value themselves and raise their self-esteem. Every 2 months, they have access to basic health services. Clara and her friends are prepared to move towards a better future because of their determination, hard work and the support of KIVA lenders. Thank you!
