01_Santessou Group's story

Established in August 2008, this group shelters these six active and brave women who live in the same neighbourhood. They enjoy good relationships with their neighbours, friendship, and solidarity. They manage their loans well and they have many flourishing profit-generating business activities, of which the main one is sales.

Madame Awa, the representative, is 48 years old. She is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and has three children - two boys and one girl - of which two go to school. She is a seamstress.

Madame Awa is active in the small business of selling sewing supplies, and her shop is in her neighbourhood. She purchases her stock from wholesalers and leverages on her many years of experience in this field of business.

With the loan, she will purchase rolls of poplin, buttons, threads, and other accessories according to current fashion trends. She manages to sell her products and do well in spite of the strong competition.

The profits will allow her to strengthen her savings and develop her business.
