Sumaya's Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase more float to improve cashflow.

Sumaya's Group's story

Sumaya's group is comprised of 2 hardworking women. Sumaya is 22 years old and lives in the town of Pallisa in the Iganga region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children, with 1 of them currently in school. For the past 3 years, Sumaya has been working hard to manage her business, which does mobile money transactions.

To help expand her business, Sumaya has requested a share of a loan of 2,300,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more float (electronic credits to sell in her mobile money business) and have cashflow for the business. It will help Sumaya to generate greater profits, and her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to buy food for her family. Sumaya hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build rental houses for business.

Sumaya is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
