A loan helped to buy mulberry and pandanus for her weaving and tapa making business.

'amelia's story

'Amelia is 27 years old. She is a mother of one child, and the wife of a farmer. 'Amelia runs a weaving and tapa making business, where she is joined by her mother and seven sisters. They weave and make tapa together. They only make tapa once in a week, and spend the rest of the week weaving. They make medium and smaller size tapa.

They weave mats, fihu and taovala with white pandanus only. The business arises from her background, as her mother raised them weaving and making tapa. 'Amelia and her sister continue running the same business and make a living for their families. She sells her weaving products to relatives overseas.

She is hoping to use her loan money to buy mulberry and pandanus for her business. Currently, they live in a small iron house. This makes 'Amelia dream of building a new, big house for her family.
