A loan helped to buy mulberry for tapa making.

Maketalena's story

Meet Maketalena! She is 47, married and has one son. Her son just graduated from high school. They live at their own home, with her husband as a farmer.

Maketalena runs a business making tapa. She works with a group of women in her village, and together they make tapa of different sizes and types one day per week. Maketalena also decorates her tapas before she sells them to local customers, at the market in town and to her relatives overseas for marketing. She has been running her business for more than twenty years, and her family receives the benefits. In fact, all of her son's school fees and educational needs were provided for through Maketalena's business. She makes sure that she always meets the needs of her son.

Maketalena is hoping to use her loan to buy more mulberry for her business. With her increased profits, she plans to send her son overseas for further education.
