A loan helped to buy fishing net and materials to make a fish trap like plastic screen, bamboo and nylon (string) and for additional capital to buy assorted dried fish.

Susan's story

Susan is a resident of Concepcion, Iloilo. She is 53 years old, married and has two dependents. To earn an income, her husband works as a fisherman, and she has helped him with this livelihood for many years. Aside from this, Susan also buys and sells dried fish for additional income.

Now, she asks for a loan of 50,000 PHP through Kiva’s field partner, CEV (a microfinance NGO) in the Philippines. She will use this loan to buy fishing net and materials to make a fish trap like plastic screen, bamboo and nylon (string). Part of this loan will also be used as additional capital to buy assorted dried fish to sell.

Susan wants to improve their livelihood for her children’s education.
