Ocosito Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy wholesale fabric in different Christmas designs and paint for decoration.

Ocosito Group's story

Fabiola and her family live in the department and state of Retalhuleu where she is the secretary of the Community of Friendship Bridge "Ocosito". Fabiola is 41 years old and has a 6th grade education. Still, little education did not limit her, and she now runs and works hard in her small sewing workshop. She is currently separating from her husband but is characterized as a woman determined to improve her life condition and that of her 18-year-old son. This year, her son graduated as an accountant.

Fabiola makes protectors for household appliances that she later sells at a street market in her community. Fabiola has requested her first Kiva loan to increase her stock of raw materials for her business during these Christmas holidays. She plans to buy wholesale fabric in different Christmas designs and paint for decoration.

Fabiola is one of eight women in this communal group who expect to receive their first Kiva loan and benefit from educational training and health services. They want to gain financial skills to better manage their small shoe, clothing, jewelry, sewing, and restaurant businesses. Other issue of importance to them are avoiding over-indebtedness, natural medicine and preventive health. This effective program is called "Microcredit Plus" and is a combination of loans, non-formal education and medical care.

Thank you Kiva lenders for financing these much needed loans!
