Dios Proveera : Grupo 2 Group's story

Milienne is a Haitian immigrant who came to the Dominican Republic looking for better living conditions. She is known in her community for being a cooperative women who is ready to give help to those who need it.

Milienne lives in a batty [a sugar workers’ town] in the Romana province. In spite of being a very touristy province, thanks to its beautiful beaches and resorts, Romana also has areas that are very impoverished. For example, there are the “bateys,” where very poor people live, mainly Haitian immigrants.

Milienne started selling sweets but, with time, she expanded and now has a vending cart where she sells various types of snacks, cookies, soda, juice, and gum, among other items.

Milenne dreams of someday leaving the cycle of poverty, where she has lived for a long time. She is asking for this loan to buy merchandise and stock her store.
