Las Princesas De Soch Group's story

Sandra, 23, is the treasurer of the Community Bank of Friendship Bridge "Las Princesas de Soch". She is an enterprising woman who, together with her husband, strive to provide better living conditions for her 2 children (2, 6 years old). With satisfaction Sandra shares that her oldest son attended the 1st grade of elementary school. Four years ago she started buying and reselling basic grains (corn, beans). Sandra knows that this business is profitable, since this product is consumed within the community. For higher income, Sandra also raises chickens and pigs. During the Christmas holidays, Sandra wants to invest in the animal business. She is requesting her 1st Kiva loan to buy more pigs and chickens.

Just like Sandra, within the communal bank there are 6 more women waiting anxiously to receive this loan. They want to invest in small businesses selling corn, beans, coffee and animals (chicken, pigs). Some of these women work and at the same time manage their small businesses. Puente de Amistad has a program called “Microcredit Plus”, which combines the loan with education and health services. The program seeks to empower women in the most important areas of their lives so that they can take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way. Women like Sandra learn to invest money intelligently and also receive training on nutrition, self-esteem and other issues to overcome poverty.

Thank you Kiva lenders for believing in these women.
