Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth is 41 years old and is a mom of 6 has complete certainty that agriculture is a profitable business after having been in this business for many years. Looking back at her farming experience, her success can be attributed to her hard work, perseverance, and determination. She is a married woman who lives with her husband and children in a humble village in the Kapsowar area of Kenya. On her farm, she is working hard and learning good farming practices. Elizabeth has faced many obstacles, but they have not been setbacks because Elizabeth has been making great profits from farming. She sells crops and animal products to obtain an income.

The Kapsowar area is a favourable one for farming, so she is seeking a KES 60,000 loan through Kiva's field partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers and seeds. These will enable her to grow more crops, reap maximum profits, and increase her business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around her village, is very challenging. Elizabeth feels relieved, knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions. Her biggest dreams are to become independent, support her family on her own, to secure her children’s future, and to buy a home. Kindly show your love for Elizabeth this festive season.
