Mujeres Unidas El Tejar Group's story

For Sandra, the treasurer of the Community Bridge Friendship Bank "Women United the Roof", the sale of products such as clothing and shoes, has become a way to generate income when there is a lack of employment. She is 41 years old, a wife and mother of 4 children (8 to 21 years old). Her husband works in a bread factory. To support household expenses, Sandra has a business selling clothes and shoes, which began 10 years ago. She wants to take advantage of the Christmas holidays to offer new product styles to the clientele. Sandra is requesting the 4th KIVA loan she will use to buy more pants, blouses and shoes of the season. She feels happy because with the earnings she can invest in the expenses of the primary and secondary education of all her children. Sandra is one of the 7 women in the communal bank that is in the Department / State of Sololá. These women sell personal products, clothes, and shoes. They also meet monthly to make payments on their loans and then participate in educational training, part of the "Microcredit Plus" loan, education and health services program. A facilitator teaches topics about effective business practices, health, family issues and women's issues. Sandra has been very helpful with the issue of the importance of offering a variety of product to customers. Thank you to each of the Kiva lenders for their generosity and kindness!
