A loan helped to hire labor and buy farming inputs, such as hybrid seeds and nutrient rich fertilizers, to improve her farm yields.

Emily's story

Juhudi Kilimo is celebrating women smallholder farmers this last month of 2019 and would like you to be part of this celebration.

Emily is a humble mom whose main dream is to improve the conditions of her home. She says that living in a third world country where opportunities are scarce is not an excuse for her not to triumph. She is a very hardworking woman.

Emily is from Eldoret in Kenya, a country known worldwide for producing the “creme de la creme” in the athletics world, and for athletes who have broken world records in major marathons.

Her primary sources of income are from raising crops and animal farming. She also earns some income through a personal business. Emily is content with the farming way of life.

In the modern world, agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic. Therefore, the kind of inputs that are being used in the sector today have been upgraded. On this note, there is need to use improved farming inputs for effective production.

Emily is requesting a loan to hire labor and buy farming inputs, such as hybrid seeds and nutrient rich fertilizers, to improve her farm yields. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the marketplace, and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life.

She also hopes to improve the conditions of her house.
