A loan helped to buy more charcoal and oil to sell.

Mawain's story

Mawain is 49 years old and lives in Liberia. She is a single mother with 5 children. Two of her children are still in school and 3 live at home. Mawain is a hardworking business woman selling charcoal and oil. She started to sell in order to create another source of income to support her children. She learned how to sell from her mother and her mother also gave her some funds to start the business. She sells 6 days a week. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site.

Mawain has applied for a loan with BRAC Liberia and Kiva Field Partner. The loan will be used to buy more charcoal and oil to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because sales are fast on a daily basis. In the future she wants to build her house. She is grateful for the financial support from BRAC and Kiva.
