Lucy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fertilizers to improve her tea farm and to help this mom improve her life and help create hope in this season.

Lucy's story

Taking a closer look at Lucy, 34-year-old mom of three school-going children, one would never know the hardship she has been through because she has always emerged victorious through all of those adversities. Lucy lives in the Maua area of Kenya. She is blessed with lovely children who are her greatest motivation. She perseveres because she wants to provide a better future for them.

The biggest obstacles to Lucy's success are the use of poor quality fertilizers and lack of chemical pesticides and herbicides. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholder farmers around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers like Lucy now can buy productive assets and important agricultural products for use on their farms.

Lucy is seeking this loan to buy fertilizer to improve her tea farming. This loan will enable her to improve her tea production through the use of quality farm products. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for tea in the market and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate her family's quality of life.

Be inspired and lend to her!
