Kotognongontala Group's story

Soumaila is pictured holding the balance. He is from Mali and is 45 years old, married, and the father of five children between the ages of 4 and 18. He has one son who attends school and four daughters.

Soumaila raises livestock and stocks cereals. He buys and sells his products at the weekly fairs in his area and in neighboring villages. His business is profitable and allows him to cover living expenses, school fees for his child, and above all, to be self-sufficient regarding food.

He can make a weekly profit of between 20,000F and 35,000F depending on the period, and he spends 5,000F a week. Soumaila's dream is to have a home in the city for his children. He is often confronted with falling prices, but he will cope with these challenges.
