A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business and also buy groceries and a new oven for her baking business.

'amelia's story

Meet 'Amelia. She is a 41-year-old single mother to six children. They live together with her parents, at her parent's house.

'Amelia is running a weaving business and also a baking business. She joins a group of women in their neighborhood for weaving, where they weave tao'vala and mats. They conduct their weaving almost everyday, enabling them to weave more products in a limited time. When her weaving products are ready, she then exports them to relatives overseas for marketing and sometimes she sells them at the local market and to random people.

With her baking, she bakes different types of cakes, pies, and all types of food that are made from flour. She sells them from her home and also to retail stores in her village. She is hoping to use her loan money to buy pandanus for her weaving and also groceries and a new oven for her baking business.

'Amelia's vision for the future is for her children to finish their education and live a better life.
