Kalisiana's story

Kalisiana (41) of Savudrodro, is a talented printer of tapa and a mother to three wonderful children. This paper-like cloth, which is made from the pulped bark of a mulberry tree, is made into a fibrous pulp, dried, and hand-painted.

She is requesting a loan to help her improve her tapa printing business to provide buyers with unique and aesthetic designs that are significant to the Fijian culture. There are many materials required to carry out tapa printing, and therefore, Kalisiana is determined to use the loan to create only the best pieces for her customers.

She plans to purchase paints, stock of plain tapa, stencils, a table and other essentials. Kalisiana believes that her expression of culture through art can generate interest in Fijian tradition and also benefit her family in the years to come.
