Alfred's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farming inputs and hire labor to work on his farm so that he can increase his production and make more profit to support his family and educate his children.

Alfred's story

Alfred is father of three children, and he is very happy to share his story on this platform for his first time. He is very hopeful and looks forward to success.

Before Alfred took on farming, he had to understand the risks involved in nurturing the growth of crops and raising of farm animals. Alfred is seeking a 40,000 KES loan, which he will use to pay for farm inputs and to hire labor in order to grow more crops. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited resources to expand a farm business.

Unlike most microfinancers in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Alfred feels inspired to continue farming and motivated to improve his life now that he is a member of Juhudi Kilimo. With your help, Alfred will be able to cover the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. A significant portion of the profits will be reinvested in the business to fuel growth as Alfred sets a good foundation for his children. He hopes to be able to progress as a smallholder farmer and have a more stable income.
