Jane's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and fertilizers, to help a repeat Kiva borrower who repays her loan on time, to improve her harvest production.

Jane's story

Jane, a repeat Kiva borrower, is a rural smallholder farmer from the Eldoret area, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favor large-scale grain farming, dairy and horticultural farming. She is married to a fellow farmer. Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, they are also involved in other agricultural activities such as growing vegetables.

The biggest problem that farmers from Eldoret face is the huge deficit in access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Eldoret like Jane can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Jane is seeking a loan to buy additional farm inputs such as seeds. This loan will enable Jane to improve her production through the use of quality seeds. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan and improve her family's quality of life. Jane also hopes to improve the condition of her house.
