Joy's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy an additional dairy cow to meet the high demand for milk in her area so she can make profits to support her three children.

Joy's story

Joy is a beautiful, hardworking smallholder mom of three who gets up every morning at 5 o’clock, before the piercing African sun wakes up, to go to her farm. She is fully dedicated to her farm work and thinks only of progressing and nothing less.

Joy resides in Nkubu, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain farming, dairy, and horticultural farming. Joy’s primary sources of income are milk sales and a personal business she engages in to make ends meet. Demand for milk in her area is high, but the supply is low. She has managed to take care of her family with her income from selling milk.

Joy has always wanted to have another dairy cow, but a lack of capital has prevented her from doing so. She is now seeking a loan to buy an additional dairy cow to improve her dairy business. The cow she intends to buy is a breed that produces between 11-13 liters of milk a day. With this cow, she will have more milk, which will translate into more income.

So, through this loan, Joy is going to have more milk and be able to comfortably meet demand. Joy's vision is to keep even more dairy cows so that she will be able to build a biodigester, which would help her to save more energy.
