Edith's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to pay for farm inputs and to hire laborers to grow more crops, make more profit, and set a good foundation for her children.

Edith's story

Edith is a mother of two lovely children, and a woman with a very gentle heart. She is a wise farmer who is respected by her neighbors and fellow farmers as a mentor. Her main source of income is from dairy and crop farming. She is seeking a 40,000 KES loan, which she will use to pay for farm inputs and to hire laborers to grow more crops.

It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited resources to expand a farm business. With your help, Edith will be able to pay the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. A significant portion of the profits will be plowed back into the business to fuel growth and to set a good foundation for her children.

Unlike most microfinance institutions in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures for funds acquisition, thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, alleviating rural poverty.
