Nua Ngam 14 Group's story

Lieng is a 34-year-old woman of Thai origin. She lives with her husband and four children in a traditional stilt house in a poor and remote area. Her two sons go to school and one of her daughters is suffering from a serious disease. Lieng did not have any formal schooling during her childhood.

Every day, Lieng and her husband work hard on their farm. They grow rice, corn, cassava and raise cows, musk ducks, duck, and chickens. She lacks adequate capital and often loses her chickens to illnesses.

Lieng is requesting her tenth loan from the Anh Chi Em program to buy fertilizers for the field and to raise chicken, and musk ducks. She hopes to make good profit through these inputs. She plans to expand her farm and pay her daughter's tuition fees. She also hopes to bear the medical expenses of her ailing daughter. Lieng dreams to bring her family out of poverty and make them happy.
