Robina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy quality farm inputs such as fertilizer to help her tea crop farm.

Robina's story

Hello from Nyamira.

Robina (pictured at her tea crop farm) is a 27-year-old mom of 3, and 2 are school-going children. She is a smallholder farmer who loves and enjoys farming. During the few years that she has been farming, she has been able to provide her family with a good and decent lifestyle.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the costs of land acquisition and inputs, which have always been high.

To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions. These institutions sometimes impose very complicated procedures for loan distribution. Some farmers, especially women, end up in despair because they do not have access to financial assistance.

Robina is a competent farmer who rears dairy animals and grows a variety of crops such as tea. When she learned about Juhudi and Kiva, she became interested.

Robina has borrowed this loan so that she can buy quality farming inputs, such as certified and nutrient-rich fertilizer, which she plans to use on her tea crop farm. With these inputs, Robina will be assured of a good harvest, which will consequently improve her income. This loan will be a turning point for a zealous mother in 2019.
