Caroline's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped a woman with a good credit history gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation.

Caroline's story

Caroline is 25 years old and the mother of two children who attend school. She lives in an impoverished village in a modest muddy house.

Caroline is a hardworking mother who decided not to burden her friends with her problems after failing to secure formal employment. Caroline used her natural abilities to pull out of poverty. Her perseverance and determination have enabled her to send her children to school, regardless of the many ups and downs she has gone through.

Caroline has never lost her enthusiasm, but moves from one challenge to another and emerges a victor. She is an established dairy and vegetable farmer. In the modern world, agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic and requires upgraded inputs for effective production. As a knowledgeable agricultural producer, Caroline has decided to apply for a loan that she will use to buy farming inputs. This loan will surely change her life, as she will be able to produce more and hence improve her income.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability. The impact of this loan will put smiles on the faces of Caroline's children.
