A loan helped to buy general and specialist medicines in bulk which will strengthen her starting capital.

Umoja Wetu Group's story

Jeanne is a client at IMF Hekima and is president of the "Umoja Wetu" group. She is 51 years old and is married with eight children; two are still in school, six have already finished, and one has died. Her partner is a public official.

She sells medicines in her pharmacy; she began this business in 2002 with seed capital from her husband. Later she got involved with the Hekima program to support the business, which has steadily evolved. With this new loan she intends to buy general and specialist medicines in bulk which will strengthen her starting capital. The main challenge her business faces is the lack of customers.

She aims to build a small shop which will help her to pay the rent. Finally, she would like to thank Hekima and their partners for the support they give to entrepreneurs who would otherwise be unable to obtain funding from banks.
