Mercy's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to diversify her business to sell more items.

Mercy's story

Mercy is a 23-year-old entrepreneur who lives in the Chikwawa district in Malawi. She lives with her parents who most of the time rely on piece work in addition to being peasant farmers.

Mercy now has a business where she sells flitters and rice. She supports the family using the little profits she earns from the business. She is requesting a loan in order to diversify her business and earn enough profit. She wants to start selling assorted items like groceries, plastic shoes, etc.

Mercy plans to construct a house in future. She also plans to use the profit she earns to support her family and needy people in her community. She will repay the "social interest" on her loan by volunteering for three hours per week as a Camfed Learner Guide, leading life skills sessions for students in local schools on topics such as rights and choices, choosing a career path and active citizenship.
