Zefa's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to expand her clothing business.

Zefa's story

Zefa is a 24-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in the Chikwawa district of Malawi. Last year she was elected as the Chairperson of her district for CAMA, the CAMFED alumnae. Zefa is passionate about helping other younger CAMA members succeed. She got a Kiva loan amounting to MWK 187,000 which she successfully repaid.

Zefa runs her own hardware and mobile phone accessories shop apart from selling shoes and wrappers. With her first Kiva loan, Zefa increased the size and range of her stock. She used the profit she earned to care for her parents.

Zefa is requesting a second loan in order to boost her businesses. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family's basic needs. Zefa will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 4 hours per week as a Loan Coordinator, using her expertise to mentor and support fellow CAMA borrowers in her community to complete repayment of their loans. As a Loan Coordinator who has already successfully paid off at least one loan herself, she understands the opportunities and challenges, and is uniquely positioned to help other CAMA members succeed.
