Thank you for the impact you’ve made this year! Together we’ve funded more than 170,000 loans and raised more than $120 million for financially excluded people around the world. It costs us more than $3 to facilitate each $25 loan, and we rely on optional donations from individuals like you to cover our costs.

Thokozani's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped To increase the size of her production to reach more customers.

Thokozani's story

Thokozani is a 26-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in the Chikwawa district of Malawi. She got a previous Kiva loan amounting to MK 187,000 which she succeeded in repaying. Thokozani runs a business selling doughnuts and snacks in offices and in compounds around Chikwawa township. With her first Kiva loan, Thokozani increased the size and range of her production. She used the profit she earned to care for her parents. Thokozani is requesting a second Kiva loan to increase the size of her production to reach more customers. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family's basic needs. Thokozani will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 4 hours per week as a Loan Coordinator, using her expertise to mentor and support fellow CAMA borrowers in her community to complete repayment of their loans. As a Loan Coordinator she has already successfully paid off at least one loan herself, so she understands the opportunities and challenges, and is uniquely positioned to help other CAMA members succeed.
