Batsuuri's story

Batsuuri is 30 years old and lives with his wife and daughter in Uvs province, Mongolia. He and his family live together in a ger, the traditional Mongolian nomadic tent. They have been living together in their current home for fifteen years. Batsuuri operates a vegetable trading business at a local market. He plants vegetables in the spring, and takes harvest in the autumn, and his wife sells the vegetables at a local market. Batsuuri keeps the harvest in a warehouse and sells those vegetables until the next spring of each year. Batsuuri has a hectare of land on which to grow vegetables. He has been operating his business since 1997 and has expanded the business and has became an experienced vegetable trader. He is a very hardworking person and has many plans for the future. Batsuuri says, “I would like to purchase my own plot of land and build a warehouse which has a capacity of twenty tons of vegetables.” Currently, Batsuuri has five tons of potatoes in the warehouse, but now he hasn’t any carrots or rutabagas to sell. He is requesting a 400,000 tugrug loan to purchase rutabagas, carrots, onions and cabbages at wholesales price for his vegetable-trading business.
