Gs La Solucion Group's story

Claircina is a Haitian woman who now lives in the Dominican Republic with her son. She came to the country in 1995, fleeing Haiti economic situation in search of a better life. In the beginning, she came to visit but she found a job and stayed. In the Dominican Republic, there are a lot of jobs in the informal sector; this is what Claircina found. She started her own business selling makeup and used clothes.

Although many migrants flee from Haiti's poverty, they still endure hard times and live in low resources communities. Because of this, people support one another with financial resources. The punishment is that people something offer loans at a very high rates. This is why Claircina wants a Kiva loan. With the loan, she plans on buying more merchandise to stock her business such as soap, cream, and underwear among other items. With this merchandise, she can make her customer base grow and sell good quality products at a good price without using his family money or with a loan that will bring a large debt.

Claircina's family is still in Haiti and depends on the opportunities Claircina has to make more income to what is possible in Haiti. A loan for Claircina means more than a loan; it is an opportunity to beat poverty and the circumstances of being Haitian in a foreign country and obtain success for her and her family.
