Thank you for the impact you’ve made this year! Together we’ve funded more than 170,000 loans and raised more than $120 million for financially excluded people around the world. It costs us more than $3 to facilitate each $25 loan, and we rely on optional donations from individuals like you to cover our costs.

Dometilla Atiiga's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to set up a detergent business.

Dometilla Atiiga's story

Dometilla Atiiga is a 19-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her nuclear family in the Bawku West district in Ghana. She runs her own business selling detergents. With her first Kiva loan, she was able to start her own business selling footwear for both males and females. She used the profit she earned to pay school fees for her siblings.

Dometilla Atiiga is requesting a second loan to commence the sale of detergents as a second business. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family's basic needs. She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering two and half hours per week as a Kiva Loan Coordinator, using her expertise to mentor and support fellow CAMA borrowers in her community to complete repayment of their loans. As a Loan Coordinator she has already successfully paid off at least one loan herself, so she understands the opportunities and challenges, and is uniquely positioned to help other CAMA members succeed.
