Picoazá is known for its market, religious festivities, vegetable, legume, and tropical fruit products. It is a fountain of growth and it is Manabí's primary informal market. Jose is 19 years old and is common-law marries. He has two children, a 2-year-old, and a 10-month-old. His partner is a housewife. They live with his mother-in-law. Jose sells clothes, lottery tickets, and various items by going door-to-door. During the weekend, he goes around various sections in the city to sell his merchandise. He sells shirts the most. His clients buy on credit and pay every 8 days. With this new loan, he will buy shirts, lottery tickets, pots, and other household items. He dreams of having his own vehicle to sell to more places.
