Mujeres En Prosperidad Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to invest the second Kiva loan, and buy new designs of women's clothes, towels and baby clothes.

Mujeres En Prosperidad Group's story

Hilda, 38, lives with her husband and is the mother of 2 children (9, 12). Hilda's husband works as a mechanic's assistant, and his income is not enough to cover household expenses. Hilda studied for 4 years and has been elected as secretary of her Community Bank of Friendship Bridge "Women in Prosperity."

Eight years ago, she started with the business of selling clothes for women and babies. She has seen that her children are growing and the expenses are getting higher. Hilda has seen that the profits generated by this business allow her to cover her children's expenses. Currently, she is requesting the 2nd Kiva loan to diversify the business and buy towels, pants and underwear.

Hilda and six other women at the communal bank are eager to invest in their businesses that include the sale of clothing, prepared food, personal and cleaning products. Hilda shares, “I have learned a lot in the monthly educational training. The issues of gender equity, decision making and rights have made me value myself more. Every 2 months, my partners and I have access to basic health care services. These additional services are very important for us”. Puente de Amistad [Friendship Bridge] calls this effective combination of loans, education and health care services "Microcredit Plus".

With the financing of Kiva lenders, women like Hilda will be able to develop as merchants, leaders and healthy women. Thank you!
