Monica's story

Meet Monica, 43 years old and pictured outside her house, is a single mother who has kept her flames of hope alive. Monica has a killer smile. She is an icon of success to many poor farmers in Eldoret. Monica is not only very hardworking, but she is also determined to achieve and remove herself from poverty.

Monica keeps cows on her farm and has a small garden where she plants trees. She is a hard worker who cares for both her family and her farm. Through selling her farm produce, Monica has gained access to many buyers in the market, and this makes her feel accomplished.

Through involvement in agribusiness production, she has been able to earn a decent income. Very determined and dedicated, she has never regretted going into farming. Although this humble mom has been making profits, not everything has been good, as Monica faces financial challenges.

Because the Eldoret area has proven a ready market for cereals, she is seeking a loan to buy cereals grains such as corn and beans for resale and thus improve her income.
