A loan helped an ever smiling mom to buy farm inputs such as certified, quality seeds and fertilizer, to improve her crop farming and eventually improve her standard of living.

Nancy's story

Special Kiva community! Nancy (43-year-old mom of six) has been through many adversities. She has, however, always had the strength to overcome them and move forward with her children. She is one of the most hardworking women in her village, which is in the Kitale region of Kenya. This area has harsh weather conditions. To survive requires a tough skin, but Nancy has defied the odds and has been engaged in farming for the past few years.

Nancy is contented with the farming way of life. Her primary sources of income are crops and animal rearing. A very enterprising woman who has had neither formal education nor formal employment, she has always worked hard on her farm and assured her children and family a decent meal.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high costs of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which continue to rise. To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions that sometimes impose very complicated procedures in loan distribution.

Nancy is seeking a loan to buy farming inputs, such as high-nutrient fertilizers and certified seeds, to improve her farm yield and make more profits from sales to support her family. Please do not hesitate to click that lend button and lend to Nancy!
