Josphine's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped a widowed mom to buy farm inputs such as certified quality seeds and fertilizer to improve her crop farming and help fuel her future.

Josphine's story

Meet Josphine. With no one to share the day-to-day responsibilities of feeding her children and making important family decisions, Josphine, a widow, ventured into farming.

On her farm she has dairy cows and a small garden. Filled with determination to better her family's conditions while not being deterred by her age and marital status, Josphine has decided to expand her existing farm. She is kindly seeking a loan to buy seed and fertilizers to expand her crop farm.

Because of favorable weather and road conditions, she will have an easy time transporting her crop products to the market. Loans are hard to come by in Kenya for small farmers with little, irregular income and no solid collateral.

Many smallholder farmers in Eldoret suffer because of a lack of access to a reliable source of finance. One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims at fulfilling is increasing the ease of accessing farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, inputs such as fertilizers and seeds have become more accessible to its members than buying a bottle of water.

Lend to her and fuel her future!
