Ruth's story

Special people in the Kiva portal!

Ruth(pictured with one of her children) believes that hard work is the price tag for success, and that is why she has to put in more work so that she can have a good farm. Despite the back-breaking labor that she puts into her farm, her income is not sufficient to meet the demands of her family. This is because water is a big problem in Eldoret, where she lives. Ruth works at raising animals and crops, which is work that she began out of economic necessity. Ruth started practicing mixed farming few years ago; that is, she grows maize and also keeps dairy cows. She has gained so much experience through these years of farming.

Ruth is taking this loan to pay for the installation of a complete drip irrigation kit and water pump. This will help her to solve the problem of water shortages on her farm by optimizing the use of available water and minimizing waste. Her crops will therefore take a shorter period to flower, and thus she will reap handsomely. She is confident that her income level will change and enable her to have an easy time caring for her family. Ruth thanks her lenders in advance for their goodwill in her life.
