A loan helped complete the build out my home studio, purchase equipment and complete my rebrand.
My journey with pottery started with the encouragement of my father after my divorce. I was working from home with my dad at the time and had a young daughter. I had lost my self identity as a stay at home mom and struggled making new friends and getting back into society. I started taking pottery classes at TCC and my love for clay grew from there. I gained a hobby, learned a new trade, found new life long friends and became an active part of a thriving artistic community. I latched on to this new hobby and soon discovered that not only did I love creating ceramics but I wanted to be a full-time production potter. I worked 2 jobs for 2 years and saved every penny I could while searching for used equipment and slowly purchasing items I would need to be able to throw at home. I turned my tiny, 800 square foot den into a pottery studio in 2015. We got rid of our couch, covered the tv and brought in some old shelves. My Dad purchased a used wheel and the rest is history! I have now fully outgrown my space and am expanding to our 2-car garage. My dream is to be able to have a fully functioning pottery studio that will enable me to continue to expand and grow as a potter and teacher.
