Catherine's story

Greetings from Liberia. This Catherine, who is 41 years old and divorced with 5 children. Four of her children are schooling, and all live at home. Catherine is a very strong businesswoman who sells tomatoes, yams, pumpkins, plantains, eddoes, bananas, and coconuts in a busy market.

She started to sell with her own savings, and her friend taught her how to sell. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. She sells 6 days a week and has had this business for 20 years now. She likes her business because it has empowered her life.

She requested for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner. This loan will allow her to buy more tomatoes, yams, pumpkins, plantains, eddoes, bananas, and coconuts to sell to repay her loan and increase her income.

She wants to continue her children's education and become a big businesswoman in the future. She is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.
