A loan helped purchase pots, firewood, and corn to continue preparing her delicious recipes.

Brisas Del Mar Group's story

This communal bank brings together seven women who are very energetic. They are active in a variety of businesses, including: selling products for personal use by catalog, selling food outside schools, and selling regional food & firewood. These women speak Spanish and live on the south coast of the department (state) of Suchitepéquez. With joy they begin their 2nd loan cycle.

María is an enterprising mother of 4 children, all of whom are over 8 years old and attend primary or secondary school. She is 37 years old and attended school for 6 years. María is a member of the Brisas del Mar Community Bridge Friendship Bank. For 18 months, she has been active in the business of selling regional food and firewood. With the earnings she gets, Maria helps her husband cover the family and educational expenses of her children. With the 2nd loan from Kiva, María will buy pots, firewood, and corn to continue preparing her delicious dishes.

As part of the "Microcredit Plus" loan, education, and health services program, women carry out 2 important activities at each monthly meeting. They make loan payments and they participate in educational training. The training topics cover 4 areas: business, health, family, and women. Every 2 months, they also have access to basic healthcare services. For women artisans and farmers, trainings to enhance their techniques are also available.

Thank you, Kiva lenders from all over the world, for financing this important loan.
