Na Tau 14 Group's story

La, 31, is a Thai ethnic woman who is married and lives with her parent-in-law, husband, her 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old sons in a Thai traditional stilt house in a poor and remote area. She and her husband are meticulous farmers who invest time and resources in their farm with plenty of jobs such as growing rice and raising pigs, fish and chicken to have a prosperous farm.

She said that owing to the difficult situation with her family, she did not attend school when she was a little girl. That lead her to face a big challenge in accessing new agricultural knowledge. Also, the lack of capital means that her family is not expanding their farming business. This is the sixth time that she has taken a loan from the Anh Chi Em program to buy baby fish. She hopes they will grow up quickly and healthily to bring her family a great profit. She will use the profit to expand her fish raising business and invest in her children’s education.
